Amy Ferryman, Ph.D.Analytical Lab and Marketing ManagerAmy brings a wealth of experience to PHI, earning her BS in Chemistry and PhD in Analytical Chemistry from Kent State University. Her journey began as a Surface Scientist in R&D at Johns Manville, where she contributed to a diverse range of research programs focused on fiberglass building materials and composites. Over the years, Amy has developed skills in laboratory management, new product development, sustainability, and product performance characterization. Amy is an avid hiker and mountaineer, spending her free time outdoors through biking, skiing, and rock climbing. |

Jenny Mann, Ph.D.Product Manager/Senior Staff Scientist, XPSJenny provides training and demonstrations on PHI XPS systems. She received her BS in chemistry with honors from the University of Iowa in 2002. She then received her PhD in chemistry from the University of California - San Diego in 2008. Following her PhD, she did postdoctoral research at Indiana University. She has worked at Physical Electronics since January of 2015. |

Norb Biderman, Ph.D.Contract Lab Manager, XPSNorb is a staff scientist providing XPS contract analytical services. He also contributes to Physical Electronics' new product development. Norb holds a PhD degree in materials science from SUNY Polytechnic Institute - Colleges of Nanoscale Science and Engineering. He has more than ten years of experience in surface analysis including AES, AFM, SIMS, and XPS in academic and industrial settings. Norb enjoys rooting for the Minnesota Vikings when they are winning. |

Sarah Zaccarine, Ph.D.Staff Scientist, XPSSarah received her BA in Chemistry from Lawrence University in 2017 and graduated from Colorado School of Mines with a PhD in Applied Chemistry in 2022. She joined Physical Electronics in February 2022, where she focuses on training and demonstrations of the diverse capabilities of the XPS instruments. When she is not at work, Sarah loves playing soccer and hiking, biking, kayaking, and canoeing outdoors. |

Jacob Schmidt, Ph.D.Staff Scientist, TOF-SIMSJacob, a staff scientist at Physical Electronics, specializes in demonstrating the capabilities of time-of-flight secondary ion mass spectrometry (TOF-SIMS) instrumentation. Jacob earned a B.A. in chemistry from Ripon College and a Ph.D. in chemistry at the University of Minnesota. Beyond chemistry, he enjoys spending time with his family, amateur woodworking, and tinkering with homebrewing. |

_______________________________________________________ Cesar Saucedo, Ph.D.Staff Scientist, XPSCesar is a staff scientist at Physical Electronics and he joined in July 2023. He focuses on training and demonstrating the vast capabilities of the PHI XPS instruments to customers. He graduated from DePaul University with a BS in chemistry in 2018. He went on to obtain a Ph.D. in chemistry from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2023. Cesar enjoys the cold weather, playing video games, and hiking. _______________________________________________________ Juergen Scherer, Ph.D.Senior Staff Scientist, AESJuergen earned his Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Kaiserslautern in Germany and, began his career as a lab scientist with PHI in 1996. Subsequently, he joined EAG as a Principal Scientist with expertise in AES, SEM, and EDS. Most recently, he was part of the Technical Operations Team at Covalent Metrology. Juergen has a lifelong passion for music. He has been playing guitar and performing in bands since he was 15, but now he focuses on writing and recording his own music. _______________________________________________________ |
